Functional imaging is essential for the early detection of tumours and their recurrence as well as for the choice of treatments and the assessment of their efficacy.
Based on dynamic contrast-enhanced imaging (DCE imaging), diffusion MRI, ultrasound elastography and computed tomography offer the possibility of acquiring functional data that must be quantitative and validated.
Quantification in functional imaging will allow testing and validating imaging biomarkers that must be evaluated in clinical situations. These biomarkers will be used to assess new therapeutic strategies and targeting techniques, thus contributing to their development.
This programme will also lead to the development of new tracers/contrast agents and the optimization of existing contrast agents in the framework of functional imaging.
